PERFORMX CULTURE ASSESSMENT

WHY UNDERSTANDING  CULTURE GOES BEYOND ENGAGEMENT

Employee engagement scores and metrics are great when it comes to understanding how your employees feel – but alone they won’t help you understand why your employees feel the way they do, or provide you with the insights to make meaningful change.

Creating a compelling narrative and case for culture change in an organisation requires deliberate effort. Understanding what’s driving current performance and engagement and what needs to improve to deliver on strategy requires a deep dive into how your organisation currently operates, and a framework for defining what needs to change.

Contrary to some beliefs – organisational culture can be measured. Using the right assessment tools and frameworks to assess current state culture is the first step to truly understanding your organisation's culture, and more importantly how culture is driving engagement, performance and helping deliver on strategy.

FROM INSIGHT TO ACTION

Understanding the current state of your organisational culture is the starting point for a healthy culture. Our PerformX Culture Assessment tool enables you to gather data and generate actionable insights that clearly define the cultural strengths and gaps within your organisation. From these insghts we can use our Culture Blueprint to further define the actions you need to take to deliver meaningful culture change that will positivley impact organisational performance.

BLUEPRINT

We combine survey data with strategy and performance objectives to create a Culture Blueprint. A Culture Blueprint describes the areas of your culture most critical to enable your strategy.

A Culture Blueprint is very often missing in culture change efforts. When this is absent it impedes the ability of the organisation to focus on what matters most.

A Culture Blueprint is a critical document in reporting culture change progress to the board and executive.

LINKING CULTURE TO PERFORMANCE

Our PerformX Framework® is designed to identify the key cultural practices that drive organisational effectiveness and engagement. It establishes direct links between these practices and specific performance outcomes such as profitability, sales growth, and innovation. By providing a dynamic map of behaviors, mindsets, and capabilities, the framework enables businesses to understand, enhance and maintain overall performance.

The 12 cultural practices are categorised into four domains, encompassing work practices, behaviors, and mindsets that organisations should prioritise in order to enable business success.

Research demonstrates that sustainable performance hinges on the ability of organisations to:

  • Inspire their workforce through a compelling sense of purpose.

CULTURE ASSSESSMENT FAQs

Check out our FAQs for quick answers to some of our most commonly asked questions, or get in touch if you need more information or want to chat.

  • What is the PerformX Culture Assessment?

The PerformX Culture Assessment is a diagnostic tool designed to help organisations understand how their culture is really operating day to day. It measures common work practices and behaviours and examines how these shape performance, alignment and the delivery of strategy. Rather than focusing on how people feel, PerformX looks at how work actually gets

  • How is a culture assessment different from an employee engagement survey?

Engagement surveys tell you how people feel at work. Culture assessments tell you why work feels the way it does. PerformX focuses on the underlying behaviours, systems and ways of working that drive engagement, performance and results. It provides leaders with clearer insight into what needs to change, not just where sentiment sits.

  • What can organisations use PerformX results for?

Organisations use PerformX to identify cultural strengths to build on, gaps that are holding performance back, and the specific areas where change will matter most. Results are commonly used to inform strategy execution, leadership development, operating model decisions and board‑level conversations about culture risk and readiness.

  • Can organisational culture really be measured?

Culture can feel intangible, but it shows up every day in visible and repeatable behaviours, how decisions are made, how work flows, and how people collaborate. PerformX measures these patterns at scale, providing a practical and evidence‑based view of current‑state culture at a point in time.

  • Is the PerformX Culture Assessment evidence‑based?

Yes. PerformX is grounded in established organisational and behavioural research linking everyday work practices to performance outcomes. The assessment focuses on observable behaviours rather than abstract values, enabling more targeted and actionable conversations about what needs to change.

  • How reliable are the results of a culture assessment survey?

The reliability of any culture assessment depends on participation, clarity of questions and how insights are interpreted. PerformX uses clearly defined questions and simple rating scales, allowing organisations to generate consistent and comparable insights across teams, roles and locations.

  • How long does the PerformX survey take to complete?

The PerformX Culture Assessment consists of 53 questions and typically takes around 10–12 minutes to complete. The survey is fully accessible on desktop or mobile devices, making it easy for employees to participate.

  • Who should complete the culture assessment?

Culture assessments are most effective when completed by a broad cross‑section of employees across levels, roles and locations. This enables leaders to see patterns across the organisation rather than relying on anecdotal feedback or individual perspectives.

  • How often should an organisation run a culture assessment?

Many organisations run a comprehensive culture assessment during key moments, such as a strategy refresh, period of growth or significant change, and repeat it periodically to track progress. The right frequency depends on how quickly the organisation is changing and what decisions need to be informed.

  • What types of organisations is PerformX best suited for?

PerformX is particularly well suited to organisations that want a clear, diagnostic view of how culture is enabling or constraining performance and strategy. It is commonly used by leadership teams, boards and HR leaders looking for practical insight rather than surface‑level sentiment.

  • When is a culture assessment most useful?

A culture assessment is most valuable when leaders need clarity, for example during growth, transformation, performance pressure or strategic reset. At these moments, understanding what needs to change in how work gets done is critical to achieving future outcomes.
