Throughout 2020 we learnt how to get work done remotely, and made a case for "Why working from home can work”. As a consequence, accelerated tech adoption and a new and practical understanding of flexible working emerged that should permanently augment our work experience.
As COVID recedes however, most organisations are now grappling with the challenge of how to get back to work in a way that optimises organisational performance and employee experience.
The benefits of working from home have been widely discussed and promoted. Many have reported improvements in productivity and the ability to get work done, both through increased availability of time and fewer interruptions. Increased flexibility to work ‘when you want’ allowing personal activities to punctuate the day have also been commonly cited, contributing to work life balance and employee wellbeing.
