TALKING POINT: MAKING CULTURE MAKE SENSE

March 2024


Our first Talking Point for 2024 explored the  common 'Myths, Methods and Missteps' organisations face when looking to manage or implement culture activities.


With a focus on culture assessment and linking culture to strategy and performance outcomes, our first breakfast of the year created a base for discussion and ongoing engagement on the topic.


TALKING POINT: IS PLANNING FOR AI SIMPLY PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE?

November 2023

Generative AI has emerged as a transformative technology, with the potential to revolutionise the way organisations operate. Many organisations are now working to understand how AI, and in particular generative AI can be used in their industry and day-to-day work, and in some cases deciding whether or not it should be.


Spring Point Managing Director Dylan Flavell guided us through an interactive session to discuss how organisations were planning for and executing AI across their businesses.

Our final Talking Point for 2022 was delivered to a full house at The Wheeler Centre with over 100 of our clients gathered for our panel discussion on the topic of ‘Burnt Out or Bored Out?’

Spring Point Managing Director Dylan Flavell was joined by Robyn Worthington and Melanie Storer in discussing & examining recent research, and exploring the various levers organisations are using to address this challenge, including the role of Purpose, Leadership, Connectivity and Work Design.

In April 2020 Dylan, along with Brooke Lewis from the CSIRO presented at the People Analytics and the Future of Work (PAFOW) conference in Sydney.


The topic was around how to create meaningful business change through using the right amount of people data created by an organisation.

Our Spring Point team has just returned from a whirlwind study tour and in this Talking Point, we shared the culture and leadership practices that are shaping the performance of some of the globe's best brands.


Dylan Flavell and Chris Morfesse knitted together their learning from study tour visits of Google, Amazon and Salesforce, as well as insights gleaned when they then joined 6000 Organisational Psychologists from around the world to talk about the Future World of Work, at the annual SIOP (Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology Inc) convention. The focus of this Talking Point was to look at both the practice and science behind the 5 key themes observed.



TALKING POINT: TALKING LEADERSHIP PIVOTS WITH DAVID PARKIN

We were delighted to present David Parkin to headline our Talking Point event on ‘Leadership Pivots’.


David’s long list of achievements on the field as an elite AFL player and coach are well documented and significant. Uniquely though, his perspectives on leadership, education and health have been established across broad domains of contribution. David is an Adjunct Professor at Deakin University, he is an author many times over and ABC commentator. David brings a truly unique combination of intellect, discipline, foresight and pragmatism. We couldn’t think of anyone better to talk about ‘Leadership Pivots’.
