Our first Talking Point Breakfast event was held on Tuesday 24th July. On a chilly Melbourne winter morning, Spring Point was joined by a host of experienced professionals to discuss the alignment of purpose, brand & culture. If you missed the event, you can watch a video of it here.
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MORNING
Justine La Roche unpacked the alignment of all three elements with Nike. Having built their business around the purpose statement “Bringing inspiration and innovation to every athlete* in the world”, this allowed them to identify when their culture, actions, and decisions were misaligned. The full case study can be watched here.
Our panelist Abigail, Jonathan and Dylan shared their reflections of working with large corporates and own insight of building a business that was purpose-led. The discussion can be watched here. Some of the key takeaways included:
Recognising if you are in a purpose-led business or how you can shift to one that directly links what you are doing to a positive vision that impacts customers, people, communities, and their needs.
The importance of the ‘and’ conversation at the board. Where organisations truly embrace a conversation about profit and loss, ‘and’ also one about the impact on sustainability, ethics, wellbeing, the environment and customer.
Recognising where your organisation is at in its lifecycle. Do you have an older legacy structure, systems, people, and culture or are you a start-up that is able to begin with purpose and adapt?
